Mike Street & Aviation Students volunteer time for the ECTA event

Arkansas Northeastern College (ANC) aviation students joined world-renowned cyclist Neil “Soupy” Campbell and his team during their Cycle200mph world record attempt at the ECTA Arkansas Mile—an event known internationally for its high-speed challenges.

When the team was presented with an opportunity to make a more efficient machine, ANC’s own Mike Street, an instructor in the Aviation Maintenance program, stepped up to help. Working late into the night, Street and his students fabricated new panels and assisted with the assembly of components for the tow vehicle used by Neil Campbell and driver Rick Lind.

After a long night of teamwork and innovation, the crew welcomed morning with a renewed sense of purpose—ready to test their design and push for a Guinness World Record. Arkansas Northeastern College also hosted the team while they assembled their record-setting bicycle, offering space, equipment, and technical support. This collaboration not only showcased ANC’s commitment to hands-on, real-world learning but also highlighted the deep connection between aviation training and advanced fabrication skills.

Students gained valuable experience in areas such as welding, sheet metal fabrication, painting, and tool usage—skills essential in both aviation and high-performance engineering. They also had the opportunity to network with international professionals and innovators, expanding their understanding of how technical training can open doors across industries.

In recognition of their contribution, Mike Street and the ANC Aviation Program will be featured in an upcoming documentary chronicling Campbell’s record-breaking journey. What began as a classroom lesson in craftsmanship became a once-in-a-lifetime experience—one that blended aviation, innovation, and world-class performance.
