Hands-On Learning at Its Best: Zekelman Z-Academy Launches PLC Training with ANC Solutions Group

This week marked an exciting milestone for Zekelman Industries as employees from across North America gathered for the first-ever Z-Academy Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Training. The week-long session packed 32 hours of hands-on PLC training and an additional 6 hours of soft-skill development, blending technical growth with professional excellence.

Empowering Employees Across North America

From Canada to the southern United States, participants came together with a shared goal — to strengthen their technical knowledge and leadership skills. This unique mix of perspectives and experiences sparked great discussions and collaboration, making the learning environment both productive and inspiring.

Industry Expertise Meets Real-World Experience

Leading the training was Anthony Mula, instructor with ANC Solutions Group. Anthony brought a wealth of experience from his years in the steel industry, paired with his strong background in technical education. His ability to connect classroom concepts to real-world applications made him the perfect fit for this program. Participants praised his approachable teaching style and practical insights that made complex topics click.

Beyond the Classroom

What made this program stand out wasn’t just the technical content — it was the balance between hard skills and soft skills. While the PLC sessions dove deep into automation and controls, the soft-skill workshops focused on communication, teamwork, and problem-solving — the kind of skills that strengthen company culture and build confident leaders.

Building the Future Workforce

The Z-Academy PLC Training is more than just a class — it’s an investment in people. By empowering employees with the knowledge and tools to adapt and lead in advanced manufacturing environments, Zekelman continues to set the bar for workforce development in the steel industry.

Thank you LT Ferguson and Alex Robertson from Zekelman for kicking this program off and allowing ANC Solutions Group to be a partner.
