FIRE! Brigade Training - Viskase

Viskase is approximately 20 minutes out from any type of industrial fire rescue. To combat this issue, Viskase has chosen a team of individuals to become trained in Industrial Fire Brigade. This will allow the employees to take care of any issues until the emergency response team arrives. Train a small group of employees on techniques for industrial fire-fighting and incident command. This group will provide on-shift leadership within the facility in the event of an industrial fire or other emergency situation until the local fire department arrives.

During the week of March 7th & March 21st...training was provided by instructor, Jason Willis of Arkansas Fire Academy in Jonesboro, Arkansas, an affiliate of Southern Arkansas University Tech.  This training is approximately 32 hours per session with max number of 20 per session. Viskase sent 40 people through the training.

Viskase was able to utilize Existing Workforce Training Participants grant assistance as well as assistance from Great River Economic Development Foundation. As depicted by the video, this is hands-on scenario based training where the Viskase employees were able to combat fires and they successfully learned how to put on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
