Jarrett Brown graduated High school
at Rivercrest took the Nucor Yamato internship, 6 months into the program, lost
left ring finger. After recovery, Nucor released from program allowed to finish
the semester. He had various scholarships to other schools, but chose to attend
Arkansas Northeastern College because it was local and he had a son. He was a single parent. It was hard
to find another work-study program and took online class; that became more than
he could handle. He then began the Electrical Apprenticeship Program at Arkansas Northeastern College. The Electrical Apprenticeship program allowed Jarrett to take a class one day a week to work towards a Journeyworker's License over the span of four years. Jarrett is currently working at D&L. Starting at D&L with very little HVAC experience he decided to take classes at Arkansas Northeastern College in the 2-year Associate HVAC Program.
During the first three months of employment at D&L Jarrett lost his son. Many asked what was he going to do at this point in his
life, he chose to continue to work; work so that his son could see what he was
accomplishing for him. He kept going, not only for his son, but for his siblings
also, he was a role model to them. To show no matter what life obstacle may
give you, you too can succeed.
He continued to gain experience at work and in school. Being
in school was an easier task, he is doing well in school and book learning with
life experiences, he gives many kudos to Mr. Rick Sones for being a great
instruction with real life lessons and he has enjoyed his classes tremendously.
The HVAC portion in classes have moved him alone in the company with
promotions. He is a current student at ANC and look forward to attending his last semester in August.
