SMS is a new company located to Osceola, Arkansas. Considering the new steel mill in Osceola, Arkansas requires equipment to be serviced regularly, part of that service includes cutting solidified steel from equipment, including rollers so they can be re-manufactured as working parts. SMS has a group of individuals that will need to be able to use a torch properly to make these repairs without damaging costly equipment. Part of the training will be how to operate equipment safely, for an untrained individual this could be a liability for the company.
Brent Carroll, The Solutions Group's Certified Welding Educator/Certified Welding Inspector traveled to Osceola to train onsite SMS employees in their shop on their own equipment. The training will occur in several five hour sessions and include hands on training with the equipment at SMS.
Topics for Torch Training included:
SMS utilized the Great River Economic Development Foundation and the new Office of Skills Development grant to help fund this training.
Thank you SMS for allowing us to train your employees! We look forward to future partnerships. Thank you GREDF for assisting in funding this training.
