ANC Internship Program

Here at Arkansas Northeastern College, we strongly believe that internships provide students with an invaluable opportunity for skill development and career exploration. Our internships allow students the opportunity to learn more about the industry, apply classroom theory to real work situations, and learn career-related skills while exploring their selected career path. The dual internship/study role broadens the student’s education and reinforces their academic learning. While working as an intern, students learn industry principles for developing productive work behaviors. The ANC course work implements the multidisciplinary, multi-skills model with courses ranging from general education requirements to mechanical drives and bearings, electricity, principles of supervision, design for manufacturing, maintenance welding, networking, PC maintenance, hydraulics/pneumatics, and much more! Complete degree plans can be found at www.anc.edu/programs_of_study.

Students work up to 24 hours per week during the school year at participating companies with assignment work responsibility. Students rotate department to get exposure to different functions of the plant. The internship program is structured for two year completion. Upon successful completion, the student earns an Associate of Applied Science degree and has demonstrated work experience with participating companies.

So, who are the current participating companies? Nucor Yamato Steel, Nucor Steel Arkansas, DENSO Manufacturing, and Kagome Creative Foods. Currently, we have nine interns at the previously mentioned industries. At Nucor Yamato Steel, we have Lane Finley, Nicholas Blackman, Devon Payne, and for the first time, an IT Intern, Cody Hogan. At Nucor Steel Arkansas, we have Kaylee Weeks, Jonathan Stateler, and Chase Benson. At DENSO Manufacturing, we have Bradley Davis. And last, but certainly not least, at Kagome Creative Foods, we have our first maintenance intern, Shannon Timms. & this is the best part, STUDENTS EARN WHILE THEY LEARN! Yes, these are PAID internships! We have had great success with the internship program. Since starting this program in 2011, we have had 39 interns in this program.
