First Aid CPR for Viskase

The Solutions Group's First Aid CPR Adjunct Instructors, Donna Razer, Mark Razer, and Francis Lewis provided several days of First Aid/CPR instruction onsite at Viskase in Osceola, AR. Each session was four hours long and they provided training to 57 employees. After successful completion, employee received a nationally recognized First Aid CPR Card from American Heart Association and a certificate from Arkansas Northeastern College.

Great River Economic Development foundation covered 100% of the training.

Topics included in the First Aid CPR Training are as follows:
First Aid CPR Training - Viskase
·         *First Aid Laws, Standards of Care
·         *Recognizing and Responding to Emergencies
·         *Avoiding Infectious Diseases
·         *Basic Life Support: Rescue Breathing, Choking, CPR, AED
·         *Bleeding & Wound Care, Shock, Burns
·         *Head, Spinal, Chest, and Abdominal Injuries
·         *Bone, Joint, and Muscle Injuries
·         *Sudden Illness: Cardiac, Stroke, Respirator, Seizures, & Diabetes
·         *Poisoning, Bites, and Stings

At Viskase, there are four rotating shifts with an emergency brigade on each shift. The brigade consists of eight to ten hourly employees, plus their supervisors, that are responsible for providing assistance during times of need. Some examples of recent incidents include providing first aid to employees’ hand cuts, monitoring blood pressure as employee had forgotten to take their medicine, and using an AED to stop an irregular heart rhythm. Viskase has conducted this training in 2014 but have lost and/or added some new members to our emergency brigade. By receiving some grant assistance, we would be able to enhance our skills to provide better care in such situations as described above.

Special thanks to Viskase, GREDF, and the adjunct instructors for making this training possible for employees.
