Fall 2016 semester's Construction Technology students assisted Arkansas Northeastern College's staff in the construction of the new outdoor amphitheater, this area is going to be used for multiple things and by multiple people, especially students.
Marty Crawford's, Construction Technology program and the Northeastern Arkansas Community Correctional Facility students participated in the construction. These 10 students worked at Arkansas Northeastern College after learning the basics of Construction Technology. These participants went through the following courses at Arkansas Northeastern and earned 16 hours of college credit towards a degree.
- Shielded Metal ARC Welding
- Oxygen Acetylene Safety & Orientation
- Craft Skills
- Construction Technology I
- Construction Technology II
In the Construction Technology program, students are also trained on heavy equipment such as skid steer loaders, forklifts, skytrak and mini excavators. This training is mostly hands-on and after successful completion the participants will earn multiple credentials such as a Certificate of Completion and OSHA 10 for General Industry. This training was paid for through multiple grants that allowed the inmates to attend the classes for free.
