Training for Aviation Repair Technologies started in 2014
with safety instruction being conducted onsite for HazDot Training for
Transportation and hazardous materials. Every three years the certificate is
scheduled to be renewed and ART selected ANC to conduct their training. Allied
Technologies instructor, Rob Semmel conducted the 8-hour HazDot 5.1 training at
ART in Gosnell, Arkansas on March 20th.
The training included the following topics:
- · Overview and definitions of hazardous materials
- · Regulations to locate the sections of hazardous materials
- · Material regulations
- · Record keeping and identifying information about hazardous materials
- · Applying understanding of the hazmat table to proper shipping techniques
- · Applying requirements of labeling hazardous materials
- · Applying requirements for marking hazardous material packages for freight containers or transportation vehicles.
Included in the training were some hands-on exercises and
quizzes which were held at the end of the course to ensure the understanding of
the material. The Great River Economic
Development Foundation funded 25% of the total cost of training for ART.
Prior to the training, Stacey Walker, Coordinator Industrial
Training; Tamika Jenkins, GREDF Project Coordinator; and Courtney Cooper, Coordinator
Placement Services, toured ART to discuss Business Retention and Expansion issues
as well as discuss potential internship opportunities with this company. The
tour was very beneficial with discussion including upcoming training and the
opportunity to build upon ANC’s existing relationship with this company.
“Thank you for the training you accomplished for us. Both
attendees had nothing but good things to say about your presentation. I
appreciate the short notice response and look forward to working with Arkansas
Northeastern College again,” said Robert Couch, Director Quality ART.
While ANC is grateful for the opportunity to work with
companies such as ART, their appreciation serves as a measure of quality
assurance to the College.
Thanks for sharing this. It is really informative and useful.
