During February and March 2017, Allied Technologies adjunct

companies in Excel 2016 Part I (basic) and Part II (intermediate). Microsoft
Excel is a popular software used by nearly all industries in Mississippi County.
Many of the companies’ machine hardware interfaces with Microsoft excel and,
therefore, many employees need training on the latest version of excel.
Excel 2016 training includes:
- Entering & Editing Data
- Modifying a worksheet
- Functions
- Formatting
- Charts
- Graphics
- Printing
- Working with Functions
- Working with Lists
- Analyzing Data
- Creating Charts
- Pivot Tables & Pivot Charts
Instructor Carol Mills had the opportunity to train several
members of the Big River Steel administrative support team in 20 hours of excel
part 1 & 2 at the ANC Crisp Center. There were eight participants who
trained on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for four hours each day. Participants asked
questions relating to their specific employment and brought in samples of their
work for data testing. Carol Mills also conducted a Monday/Wednesday night class
for D&L and Nucor Castrip. Seven individuals attended this training.
During the same timeframe, Ron Hutto trained 12 Kagome
employees in Excel Part I and Part II. There were many different types of
employees represented in this training. There were HR Professionals, a Safety
Specialist, Administrative and Clerical, Project Managers, and a controller.
Excel is widely used at Kagome and the instructors also provided instruction
for different version of the software.
Kagome received 50% of the total cost of training via the
Office of Skills Development Grant through the Arkansas Department of Career
Education as reimbursement for this training and they received GREDF support of
25% of the total cost of training paid. Net cost to Kagome was approximately
25% for this training.
Stacey Walker trained Nucor Yamato, Nucor Hickman, and Nucor Castrip employees as well as one employee from Blue Oak and one employee from Hubbard and Hoke furniture. There were eight individuals in this training. This class lasted 20 hours and allowed the participants to interact and ask questions and simulate real world scenarios in their work environments. The Office of Skills Development Grant was approved to cover a portion of the training. Nucor received approximately 50% of the total cost of training as well as funding for two upcoming training sessions.

Certificates of Completions were issued during the last
class in each of the session with the hope that the participants will practice
and return for the Part III version of this course. There will be an opportunity
for the individuals to take the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification in
Excel 2016, which is a nationally recognized credential.
Thank you OSD & GREDF for your continued support.
