There
is a new face around Arkansas Northeastern College and the ANC Crisp Center
these days. Michael Smith of Blytheville, Arkansas has joined the ANC family as the
Coordinator for Workforce Orientation & Retraining Keys (W.O.R.K). As the
Coordinator, Smith will be developing a plan to recruit members of the
community into the program. His goal will be to provide individuals the
necessary skills to begin or advance their careers. The W.O.R.K. Program
training will be focused in areas such as workplace ethics, interpersonal
communication, math, literacy, First Aid/CPR, and basic computers. After
successful completion of the W.O.R.K program, participants will receive the
NCRC, First Aid/ CPR, and 3 hours college credit for Workplace Essentials if
enrolling in an Allied Technologies Degree Plan.
Michael
Smith comes from an industrial background working at Evonik, Cyro for 12 years.
His previous job duties included training new operators and implementing new
division operator training programs. This has prepared him to take over the
W.O.R.K Coordinator position by giving him the skills needed to train members
of the community, and place them on the road to success.
“If
a goal is worth having, it’s worth blocking out the time in your day-to-day
life necessary to achieve it,” says Smith.
