Greg Rapert of Class 23
is a completer of the W.O.R.K. Program and W.O.R.K. Plus program who resides in
Osceola Arkansas. Greg a 37 year old male, began classes January, 8, 2018,
where his original goal was to make positive changes in his life. Prior to his
completion of the W.O.R.K. Program, Greg had difficulty finding jobs and when
he did, they were, what he considered, dead end jobs. “Once you’ve hit rock
bottom the only way out is up,” said Rapert.
Rapert met
ANC W.O.R.K. Program Director Michael Smith when Smith visited a Mississippi
County drug program that Rapert attended. Smith shared information about the
W.O.R.K. program and the possibilities that were connected to completing it.
After learning about the opportunities that W.O.R.K. completers have, Rapert began
and completed the W.O.R.K. Program, and the W.O.R.K Plus program. He obtained
his First Aid and CPR certification, OSHA 10 certification, and scored Silver
on the National Career Readiness Certification Test “NCRC” throughout the
W.O.R.K. and W.O.R.K Plus programs. While all aspects of the program are
important, Rapert indicated that the most useful information that he gained was
the OSHA 10 certification, which he currently uses in his job.
“The OSHA 10
Certification helps me to understand what it means to be a safe employee in the
workplace,” said Rapert, adding that if he could tell the next group in the
W.O.R.K program anything, it would be to take the program as seriously as you
expect your next employer to take you. Now employed at Prospect Steel, which is
a division of Lexicon, Rapert serves as a fitter in training.
