Several employees of Nucor Yamato and
Nucor Steel recently received Emergency Medical Training through the Solutions
Group. This customized training, taught by Donna Razer, Mark Razer and Francis
Lewis, certified nine participating employees to become first responders at
their respective plants. After successfully completing the training,
individuals received First Aid and CPR cards as well as earning the Certificate
of Proficiency in Emergency Medical Technician. They now have the opportunity
to take the national EMT Exam.
As part of the training, employees
completed the required 48 clinical hours in an Emergency Department and 24
hours ambulance time. Instructor Donna Razer commented, “We were very impressed
with their interest and motivation to do the best they can. It was a pleasure
to teach this class.”
The Arkansas Department of Career
Education sponsored 75% of the total cost for the Certificate of Proficiency
EMT, and 25% was paid for by the Great River Economic Development Foundation. As of 7/30/2018 five out of the nine individuals taking this class has passed their National EMT exam. The remaining are scheduled to take their exam.
Update 11/1/2018 six out of six students who have taken the national registry exam has passed.
