NSAR - NEW CLASS - Power Relay 101 Training

ANC & Nucor Steel Arkansas in partner with Power Grid Engineering, LLC trains employees on Power Systems 104: Relay Commissioning training.

“The Relay 101 training class was an opportunity for everyone to learn more about how to use relays and how to maintain them. For some teammates in this class, it was all brand new information and were there for cross training purposes. Other teammates interact daily at work with relays without fully understanding their potential. This training was an opportunity for them to close the gap between what they already know about relays and what they did not know. For instance understanding symmetrical components. Now we can use this knowledge to understand what happens during a fault. A week after the class, we ended up needing to know this information after storms rolled through and took out a utility line causing a fault on the system. Other teammates are power technicians and are in the process of learning about preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. This class was to help them get a sturdy understanding of relays to help them with their maintenance.” Says Victoria Fueri, Power Systems Engineer at Nucor Steel Arkansas.

The training took place at Arkansas Northeastern College - Center for Allied Technologies January 7-10th, 2020. The training consisted of 12 individuals and was 100% reimbursed by Office of Skills Development and Great River Economic Development Foundation workforce training grants.
