Manila High School Students gain real world training w/ Solutions Group Instructors

In March 2022, 7 Manila seniors and juniors attended the grant-funded Industrial Maintenance training program. This training program was approximately 60 hours and went through topics such as:

  • OSHA 10 for General Industry with Rob Semmel
  • Basic Hydraulics/Pneumatics with Mike Street
  • Comprehensive Project & Bridge building with Scott Follett
  • Correct Use of Tools with Mike Street
  • Basic Electricity with Steve Crosskno
  • Technical Math & Mechanical Measurements - Scott Follett & Mike Street

As part of the comprehensive project, the students were able to tour Atlas' new Jumbo HSS mill. The tour allowed them to see a manufacturing environment, apply some aspects of the training to real-world experiences, and meet employees of Atlas.

After successful completion of the program on March 25th, students then walked across the stage at their high school graduation and received a cord from Emily Crosskno to symbolize the industrial maintenance training program that these students dedicated their time to. This program aided them in graduating high school as well as giving them industry-recognized credentials.

Students were awarded toolkits to get started as well as certificates of completion. This training was a pathway for them to either go into the workforce or start ANC's internship program process. Special thanks to LeAnn Helms, Manila High School Principle, and her staff members for making this possible for the students.
