From January through March, ANC Aviation instructor Mike Street and ASU instructor, Darrell Campbell trained approximately 5 workers from Telling Industries on basic machine shop practices and threading on manual lathes. Training included mechanical measurements with calipers and dial indicators, micrometers, and tape measures.
Mel Mason, maintenance supervisor at Telling Industries. visited with ANC Solutions Group's Dean, Stacey Walker, to determine what type of training he needed for his team. During COVID, the prices of machined parts were increasing as well as the timeframe for which the parts were arriving at Telling. Telling decided to start machining their own parts. With this training, they have identified some of the areas in which they could make parts. As part of the training, the instructors were able to teach them how to read blueprints.
Thank you to all parties involved. After successful completion of this program and supporting documentation, The Office of Skills Development and Great River Economic Development Foundation funded 100% of the total cost of training.
