BRS/US Steel & Entergy Empowers the next generation with paid Internships

Big River Steel has selected 14 high school interns from the ANC Steel Tech Academy class. These  interns selected for this exciting opportunity are exceptional students who have already demonstrated their potential and passion for the steel industry during their time at the ANC Steel Tech Academy. These students are currently high school seniors at Manila, Rivercrest, Osceola, and Gosnell. Through a US Steel/ Entergy /ANC Partnership we are able to jointly offer paid internships during their senior year in high school. BRS will be bringing the internship portion to the classroom until they graduate in May, 2024. Big River Steel is not only supporting these students financially but is also offering them the chance to gain hands-on experience within a cutting-edge steel manufacturing facility. This experience will help these young individuals develop a deep understanding of the steel industry, setting them on a trajectory towards future success.  Instructor Allen Holmquist is teaching valuable Steel Industry Technology skills as well as employability and life skills needed to be successful in the workforce.

The Associates of Applied Science Steel Industry Technology program, in which these interns are enrolled, is a key component of this initiative. It's designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in the steel industry.

During January, 2024 we will begin our search for the next high school candidates to apply for the Steel Tech Academy. For more information regarding Steel Tech Academy visit  the ANC website:
