The collaboration between ANC Solutions Group, Big River Steel, the Great River Economic Development Foundation, Damon Inc, and the Arkansas Environmental Training Academy is a massive partnership that showed the commitment of both the private and public sectors to invest in the safety of the workforce and the communities they serve. The two-day training program covered various aspects of fall protection, including but not limited to:
Fall Hazard Recognition: Identifying potential hazards in the workplace is the first step in preventing accidents. Participants were trained to recognize situations that could lead to falls and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Proper Use of Fall Protection Equipment: Hands-on training allowed participants to gain practical experience in using personal protective equipment (PPE) like harnesses, lanyards, and anchor points. This crucial knowledge helps ensure that employees are properly equipped for their work at heights.
Inspection and Maintenance of Equipment: In addition to using PPE, it's essential to know how to inspect and maintain the equipment regularly. A damaged or worn-out harness is a potential safety hazard.
Fall Arrest Systems: Participants were trained on the use of fall arrest systems and the proper procedures to follow in the event of a fall. Quick and appropriate response can mean the difference between a minor incident and a life-threatening accident.
The success of this fall protection training program can be measured not only in the number of participants trained but also in the enhanced safety culture that it promotes at Big River Steel. By equipping competent persons with the knowledge and skills to ensure safe work environments, the risk of accidents and injuries is significantly reduced.
Thank you all partners involved.
