The Arkansas Northeastern College (ANC) Center for Allied Technologies recently partnered with the East Coast Timing Association (ECTA) to host a high-energy Aviation Car Party and Career Showcase. The event drew over 200 attendees, including students, community members, and regional industry representatives, all focused on career pathways in aviation, industrial maintenance, welding, and other skilled trades.
The event featured custom cars, high-performance vehicles, and aircraft displays—creating a unique environment to introduce ANC’s hands-on training programs to prospective students. The primary focus was recruitment for ANC’s Allied Technologies programs, which include aviation maintenance, welding, precision machining, and industrial technologies.
Students from the ANC Tech Center’s Computer Information Systems (CIS) program had a unique opportunity to work on ECTA’s live stream trailer, gaining real-world experience in networking, documentation, and broadcast support. These kinds of applied learning experiences bridge the gap between classroom instruction and industry application.
ANC Aviation students also played a vital role, volunteering throughout the event and interacting with guests to promote the Aviation Maintenance program and share their training experiences.
Two well-known land speed racers, Keith Turk and Kelly Bise, engaged directly with ANC Tech Center students, offering practical insights from their own careers. Beyond racing, Turk shared entrepreneurial lessons from his masonry business, while Bise discussed operational strategies from his pipe manufacturing company, underscoring the importance of business knowledge in technical careers.
The Aviation Car Party not only showcased the power and innovation behind engineering and speed—it also served as a platform to connect students with career possibilities, employer insights, and skill-building opportunities available through ANC.
ANC continues to expand efforts like these to inspire the next generation of skilled professionals, reinforcing its role as a regional leader in workforce training and career education.
