On May 4th and 5th, 2026, Carman Jackson Project Director for the Arkansas Department of Commerce / Office of Skills Development visited Blytheville for a tour of the Arkansas Northeastern College Center for Allied Technologies and Nucor Steel Arkansas. The visit highlighted the strong partnerships that continue to drive workforce development and industrial growth throughout Mississippi County.
Ms. Jackson plays an important role in supporting Mississippi County industries by helping create opportunities for workforce training grant funding that directly benefits local employers and employees. Through these efforts, Arkansas Northeastern College has become the region’s largest utilizers of workforce training grants, with many industrial partners fully utilizing their annual grant allocations to train and upskill their workforce.
Special thanks go to ANC, Jernal Woods, Stacey Walker, and Jessie Tipton along with the Nucor team for their outstanding hospitality and for showcasing the advanced training and manufacturing opportunities available in the region. Additional appreciation goes to Mallory Darby and Tammy Winstead for sharing valuable insight into ongoing Mississippi County economic development initiatives and the continued investment being made in workforce and industry partnerships.
The visit served as another example of how collaboration between education, industry, and economic development continues to strengthen the future of manufacturing and workforce development in Northeast Arkansas.
