ANC Students Explore Career Opportunities During Southworth Products Industry Tour

Students and recent completers from several Arkansas Northeastern College workforce training programs had the opportunity to explore manufacturing careers firsthand during an industry tour at Southworth Products in Manila.

The group included students from ANC's Aviation Maintenance Technology program, participants in the WORK Program, Arkansas Steelmaking Bootcamp completers, and Welding Technology students. The visit provided an inside look at one of the region's leading manufacturing employers while reinforcing the connection between classroom instruction and real-world career opportunities.

Southworth Products welcomed the group by sharing the company's history, mission, and commitment to developing a highly skilled workforce. Company representatives discussed current and future employment opportunities, career pathways within the organization, and the qualities they look for in successful employees.

A highlight of the visit was learning about the responsibilities of a Welder/Fabricator at Southworth Products. Students gained valuable insight into the daily tasks associated with the position, including blueprint interpretation, precision fabrication, welding processes, quality standards, safety expectations, and teamwork required to manufacture the company's industry-leading lifting equipment.

In addition to learning about technical skills, students had the opportunity to ask questions about career advancement, workplace expectations, company culture, and professional development. The discussion emphasized the importance of reliability, communication, problem-solving, and continuous learning as key ingredients for long-term success in advanced manufacturing.

Industry tours like this are an essential part of ANC's workforce development mission, allowing students to connect their education with meaningful employment opportunities while building relationships with regional employers.

Arkansas Northeastern College extends its sincere appreciation to the leadership and employees of Southworth Products for taking the time to host our students and share their knowledge. Partnerships like these continue to strengthen the workforce pipeline and prepare students for rewarding careers throughout Northeast Arkansas.
