ANC Solutions Group hosted the 3rd annual NuCamp for Nucor Steel Arkansas. The group of 14 students from Blytheville High School and KIPP High School were carefully selected throughout an interview process by Nucor themselves. The training for this group was partially funded by the Great River Economic Development Foundation.
The students from BHS were accompanied by career coach, Jeff Echols, and KIPP's career coach, JuJauna Matlock. The students spent 3 weeks learning a large variety of skills taught by 6 of our instructors, Mike Street, Adron Poole, Chris Perkins, Allen Holmquist, Austin Coleman and Steve Clark. The skills include:
- Basic Snap Circuits and Electricity
- Workplace Safety
- Team Building exercises
- Steel Mill Processes and Radio Protocol
- Correct Use of Tools
- Work Ethic
- Basic Rigging
- Anti-Harassment training
- Financial Preparedness
We are thankful for the work that Nucor does to instill good work ethic in our local high schoolers and help prepare them for the real world.
